Chloes Fan Blog Weeks 10/11

We played Nottingham at home and Nottingham went 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes Ciampini brought one back just before the end of the first. We then found our rhythm and started to score in bunches. Throughout the night we had a goal from every line. Once we got point secure Aaron made the decision to give Lewis King some ice time. Which is a decision from Aaron because it gives Lewis more experience and confidence for if and when he get call up again. Danny got his first home man of the match which gave him his first Eddy which was a football headed just a pity it didn't go quite in. Going into the Guildford game we knew it would be difficult and by 5 minutes into the second we were 3-0 down and wondering where the goals were going to come from. Once again Ciampini brought us a goal back and kept it an equal period. Going into the third we scored 2 goals within around 1 minute equalising the game. After a few penalties Connolly bad blasted one from just in the offensive zone to hear the clang of the iron we knew it was in which meant he scored his first goal of the season and league campaign. That goal also secured us 2 points. Well

Last weekend we played Manchester in a dead rubber challenge game and Aaron decided to give McLaughlin some ice time and played him the whole game which gave Greener a rest for Sunday against Fife.

The Manchester game was basically a boxing match or at least felt like one. Within 8 seconds Ruddy was thrown out for attacking Davey from behind which Davey had no clue about. Raska opened the scoring whilst on the powerplay. A minute and half later Ciampini scored to give us a 2-0 lead. Conns went in the box and Jesper Ohrvall scored an un assisted goal meaning it was 2-1 sheffield going into the 2nd. The second was more eventful with several fights breaking out and at one point we had 3 players in the box for each team. The penalty box is quite small so you can imagine how cosy it was for the players. It's just a good job no one else got a penalty it would be quite amusing. Manchester were 5-3 up after the 2nd period. Ciampini scored our final goal and Manchester finished the game winning 6-4. Despite letting 6 in McLaughlin had a cracking game and saving 21 shots. Back to the league, Fife at home on the Sunday. Wasn't a very exciting game but got the two points. It was 0-0 at end of first, took until 3 minutes into second when Neumann got us on the score sheet. Then had to wait another 22 minutes to score again, which was a nice play from Nevalainen to set Petgrave up. Fife then pulled Shane Owen and Davey shot for the empty netter which was guided in by Neumann and Latal.

Even though confirmation of seed two for Challenge Cup, League games are coming thick and fast.
